Nicole Kidman is in talks to star in the new film by Yorgos Lanthimos’, a psychological thriller with supernatural elements.
Colin Farrell will likely star, working again with Lanthimos’ after their successful collaboration in “The Lobster”.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nicole Kidman is in talks to play the part of Colin Farrell’s character in the “Killing of a Sacred Deer”.
The script is co-written by Lanthimos and Efthimis Fillipou (the two of them have worked before on a number of films, including “The Lobster”). The production is by Element Pictures (which produced the oscar winning The Room).
According to Screen Daily, the story is inspired by a Euripides tragedy. The Killing Of A Sacred Deer is a psychological thriller that centres on Steven, a charismatic surgeon, and a teenage boy who seeks to integrate him into his broken family.
When the boy’s actions become increasingly sinister, Steven’s ideal life starts to fall apart and he is forced to make an unthinkable sacrifice.
Yorgos Lanthimos is currently developing another project. The Favourite, a historic film about the political machinations during the reign of Queen Anna in the late 17th early 18th century. Olivia Coleman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz are set to play the main parts.
