Hiwa by Jacqueline Lentzou at the 67th Berlin Film Festival

The 67th Berlin Film Festival is about to begin in a few days.

hiwa-001From Greece, we will see the film “Hiwa” by Zacqueline Lentzou, who is going to participate in the short film section of the festival.

In Hiwa, the director tells of the dream of a man from Philippines who wanders in Athens, without being in the country. Soon, his dream becomes a nightmare.

The film participated in Athens Film Lab and was one of the seven movies that received funding in order to be completed. Jacqueline Lentzou is preparing her first feature film, called “SELINI 66”.

Jacqueline was born in Athens, Greece in June 1989. She graduated with distinction from London Film School in 2013 with “Thirteen Blue” which won several awards in international film festivals. In 2014 she won the screenwriting competition in the context of PIFF and went into production for “LUZ”.

The same year she participated in Sarajevo Talents as a writer/director, as well as in the RIFF Talent Lab, where she won the Golden Egg award. In 2015 she participated in Berlinale Talents as a writer/director and at the Berlinale Short Film Station with “FOX”.

In the same year, she got funding from the Greek Film Center for “FOX”.

Berlin Film Festival and Berlinale Talents welcomes 250 young filmmakers from 71 countries. This year will participate from Greece -with the support of the Greek Film Center- four talents: the director Yorgos Teltzidis, the director Grigoris Vardarinos, the producer Emma Doksiadi and the director of photography Yorgos Karvelas.
